A New " Normal"

Life is so different with 2 children!! We are learning though, learning to enjoy the small bits of sanity that present themselves, how to operate on way less sleep, how to embrace and cherish the sister to sister moments. Its a whirlwind of wonderful and hectically challenging at the same time.
My life these days has been much more about figuring out how to take care of our family of 4 than it was before and slowly I am beginning to feel like that's okay, like I have permission from Jesus to get my head around this new phase in our lives.  But of course life still continues and thankfully people come to us ; )
I have had the privilege of being a sort of information well/ post partum doula for  a friend and neighbor.  The boys in the neighborhood have returned. . . yesterday Mandla ( who lives down the street) brought  friends over because one of them fell off his bike, he said to his friend " This is my personal nurse, whenever I get hurt I come here!" The other one responded " If I would have known I would have come before." As he presented his freshly scabbed legs.
Its nice to have them back around, I think they stayed away because they were a little weirded out by a large pregnant woman kicking the soccer ball around with them, but now I look more normal : )
Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment! Thanks

Thank you Madiba - We remember

Long Walk to Freedom

Nelson Mandela “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
Nelson Mandela (b. 1918), released from 27 years in prison 20 years ago today.
"For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others."
"As I have said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself... Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility.”
"There is no passion to be found playing small, in setting for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."
Thank you Madiba, you give us home. God helps us to walk in your shoes

Jordan & Family...

Hi All,
Sorry for the hiatus but we just had our second daughter.... and yes like they say, "Going from 1 to 2 is tough." We love Jordan, although I would love having a bit more time with her. She is starting to smile and be more alert which is great. I have spent most of my time with Keira. Man she has some serious energy. I have no idea where she got that from. She was up at 5:30am, come in for a quick snuggle and then pulls the covers off and says,"Come Daddy lets get up."
Anyway, we are doing good, getting adjusted. Maternity and Paternity leave have been a blessing and we are looking forward to getting the year started.
We have already had some great conversations at our discussion group, learning about different cultures and expectations. God is doing a good thing. I will share more later.

Here are some pics many of you have been asking for....
